Community Hub Project

Lowson Memorial Parish Church is situated in a great place – it’s at the east end of Forfar and is surrounded by houses. It is ideally situated to be at the heart of our community and that’s exactly what we have become. During normal circumstances, our buildings are bustling with activity every day of the week.

What with our worship services – Sunday, mid week, weekly and monthly; our young people – some 200+ toddlers to teens pass through our doors every month; then there’s our seated exercise and ladies exercise; our prayer times and our meal times with our weekly lunch club; our craft club and computer club; our Guilds and Food Project and much, much  more!

Our hall and Church were always so busy that there was hardly a slot when we have available space.

Even during lockdown, our buildings were open as our Food project responded to the massive demand for help and over 100 Food Parcels were handed out every week. On top of that, our Lunch Club turned into meals on wheels and we kept in touch with everyone by taking their lunch to them.

So we have plans to build a Hub – with facilities that will allow us to do even more within our local community. We need more hall space so a new, smaller hall at the back will give us not just a hall, but extra storage too. We currently feed over 50 people with our weekly lunch deliveries, but our kitchen is tiny. So our plans include a new industrial sized kitchen which will allow us to expand our current program when Covid restrictions are lifted, with plans for a morning café, cookery classes, outside play area and much, much more.

We also need somewhere to hold small meetings and so our plans incorporate a meeting room, a new office and a new vestry. These will be easily accessible from a new entrance with large welcoming area, and with so many people already around on a daily basis, we are going to add more toilet facilities as well.

It’s a large project for us and we are now working hard to raise the funds.

If you could find it in your heart to help us, we would really appreciate your prayers.  Also you can make a donation so easily – just click here
